Well it was the official start of National Novel Writing Month today, the end being on November 30th. I was referenced to this by a dear friend, to whom I am very grateful. Unfortunately, I have had a raging headache for pretty much the entire day (I still do whilst writing this) that not even a walk down on the beach, quiet with the sea lapping at the shore, could fix. It is that kind of feeling where you want to just go to sleep, no matter the time, so it will stop...but you know you won't be able to find sleep because of the pain.

This would be fine if I could do something productive to make up for it...to take my mind off of things. However, it prevents me from thinking straight, and when I can't fully access my imagination I cannot write properlly. So not off to a very good start with NNWM...I hope I can make up for it by writing double as much tomorrow.

The basic idea for the story I want to write is a personally important one to me. A young girl entering puberty sees everyone changing around her. Her 'friends', her boyfriend, even her family begin to look down upon her as her school grades begin to suffer. She is confused and ultimately alone, wrestling with the temptation to give into peer pressure and forget the one thing that has always defined her...her imagination.

So yes, she is basically a female version of me when I was that age. I have many memories of that time, some good, some bad, a time when I saw everyone around me suddenly very sexually active, abandoning the things they had liked before for lust...and smoking...and even drugs for a few of them. All through this time I stayed pretty much the same. Sure my body changed and grew, I started being attracted to a few girls in my class and all...but I felt very little desire to change. My imagination was still my greatest love, but no one understood. No one.

I want my new story to be a metaphor for this time of troubles, joys and pains, using fantasy and mystery to convey very serious sexual and emotional issues. The main character will meet with a new boy who just joined the school...extremely attractive but seemingly only interested in her (she isn't the most pretty girl in the class). He takes her to a world of dreams...and nightmares. A world where she can rule over all, both inside herself and inside others. But with any person you ever meet, no matter how nice or nasty they are...there will always be pain and trials, as well as joy and victories. She learns this the hard way, and hopefully in the end learns important lessons in this time of her life.

My head hurts so bad...it was bad enough writing that. But I had to note it down somewhere, lest I forget my ideas.
